Filing a Pothole Damage Claim in Rhode Island
After one of the worst winters I can ever remember, we’re finally starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel. With all of the storms, plowing, freezing, melting and refreezing you may have noticed that there seem to be potholes just about everywhere you look.
Since many people who read this may have the bad luck of encountering a nasty pothole at some point, I thought it would be a good idea to do some research to provide you with the easiest way to get reimbursed for pothole damage to your vehicle.
However, early on I found a great article on the WPRI channel 12 web site. It has absolutely everything you need to know about how to file a successful pothole claim in RI. If you’re in Massachusetts, you’re most likely out of luck because the state assumes no liability for pothole damage unless their is a death or serious bodily injury resulting from the pothole collision.
You can click here to access the WPRI article and video. Thanks to the channel 12 team for a very comprehensive and informative piece.
One thing I will say here is that you must act very quickly. You need to report a pothole damage incident within 7 days. You then have an additional 60 days to provide information to support the claim such as incident reports, photos, repair receipts, etc. If successful, RI law allows for reimbursement of up to $ 300.00.
